In the spring of 1938, Lila entered school. She enjoyed learning and was a good student. At first she felt very comfortable. However, that changed quickly. She became increasingly isolated and did not understand what was going on. Girlfriends stopped coming to her house. The sandbox had suddenly lost its appeal.
